Movies: The Man from UNCLE (12A), Hitman: Agent 47 (15) and Hook (DVD – U)

The Man from UNCLE (12A) – what’s it about? CIA Agent Napoleon Solo teams up with a KGB agent to stop a criminal organisation from getting nuclear weaponry.

This is set in the 60s and is a reboot; it was good even though I’m not really a fan of things set in this era or earlier. I still really find it odd seeing places I live by in movies, it makes it really weird...anyway...this one has a nice lot of action, humour and some good stor too, there’s not really much to say about it but as long as you like special agenty type things you’ll like it.

Hitman: Agent 47 (15) – what’s it about? Agent 47 teams up with a woman to help her find her father before the Syndicate…

I liked it, I liked it a lot, maybe more so than someone who doesn’t know of the game series though, it had a lot of great action scenes in it…some really ouch moments and some good plot, I thought it was going to get a little too slow at one point but as soon as I started to think that it all kicked up the pace again. A great game movie J

Hook (DVD – U) – what’s it about? Peter Pan left Neverland and grew up. He now has kids of his own and Captain Hook kidnaps them. Peter must return to Neverland to rescue them.

This is a good oldie movie; they really don’t make movies like this now-a-days imo, ok that makes me sound like some old git who doesn’t like new stuff, I assure you I’m not! This though is one of those class movies that sticks with you once you’ve seen it. A great family movie full of fun, laughs and fairy magic, if you haven’t watched it I really don’t know where you’ve been, it is definitely worth a watch or a re-watch if you’ve seen it. Its one for everyone J

Movies: Dog Soldiers (15), Serenity (15), Pixels (12A) & Fantastic 4 (12A)

Dog Soldiers (15) – what’s it about? A group of soldiers take part in an exercise in Scotland…but they weren’t prepared for werewolves!

This is a good lot of bloody action, a great British movie and only we Brits can show “fuck off” to a werewolf as it’s trying to kill you lol. It’s got a little plot, action, gore and some little twists. It’s a classic werewolf film and worth seeing if you love the hairy beasts.

Serenity (15) – what’s it about? Continuation from the Firefly TV series, the crew must survive an assassin and uncover the truth…

Full on action, story and character driven plot, as well as sci-fi battles and space travel to boot, so this has everything you possibly need in a movie. If you haven’t seen Firefly then don’t worry at all, you can still watch this awesome movie, as it’s written in a way you don’t need to know previous histories. It’s definitely worth seeing!

Pixels (12A) – what’s it about? In 1982 a recording of video games was sent into space, at present day an alien race sends down video game characters to destroy the world…

Basically this movie cashes in on nostalgia but that said if you like Adam Sandler then you’ll like this as it’s his usual type of humour. It’s got some action, a few heh moments (nothing extremely funny) and a little bit of story, its better than average but not amazing.

Fantastic 4 (12A) – what’s it about? The origin story of the Fantastic 4 and Doctor Doom, can they figure out how to use their powers to protect earth from the evil Doom?

This movie…umm…maybe I should explain first that the Fantastic 4 aren’t my favourite of the superhero bunch, they have never been as good as others imo, so keep that in mind. This movie is alright, but nothing at all special. It’s definitely the weaker of all the Marvel movies that have come out but it is an origin story and those are always a little lacking. The story was very basic but I was disappointment by the lack of information you find out about the characters and the action was a little disappointing too. It’s ok to pass the time but don’t expect awesomeness and you’ll enjoy it!

Movies: Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (12A) & Dragonball Evolution (DVD – PG)

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (12A) – what’s it about? Ethan and his gang tackle the Syndicate and try to bring them down…

If you’ve seen any MI movies then you know exactly what to expect, yep it’s got the same feel, it’s filled some plot and action. If you love them this one will not disappoint, if you haven’t really watched them it’s still worth a watch if you like spy and action type stuff, it’s pretty good.

Dragonball Evolution (DVD – PG) – what’s it about? Son Goku meets up with his friends to try to stop the evil Piccolo…

I used to love the DBZ universe and I don’t think I’ve watched this movie since I originally got it, so thought I’d revisit it. Yeah it’s so so bad; the fighting is really amusing as is the take on the characters, its humorous but that kinda makes it cool at the same time.
