Movies: Grimsby (15), The Forest (15), Bad Boys (DVD – 18) & Vampires Suck (DVD – 12)

Grimsby (15) – what’s it about? A spy and his Grimsby footie hooligan brother are reunited after years of being separated.

This movie is wrong on so many levels, so so wrong. There were a couple of bits that were amusing and the action and stuff was good. Though I think I only found some of it funny because where I lived that way for a while. Anyway, this is basically crude humour; sex and grossness that’ll make you cringe.

The Forest (15) – what’s it about? After her sister goes missing, her twin travels to the Japanese suicide forest to find her…

I really don’t know why I go and see horror movies, I actually don’t appreciate them anymore – 10 years ago I loved them but now my tastes have changed. Anyway though as a movie this was really good, the story was interesting and the characters…and of course the spooks were pretty rampant as well, so a good horror movie in all.

Bad Boys (DVD – 18) – what’s it about? Two detectives must protect a witness and take down some thieves.

I hadn’t seen this for years so I thought I’d give it a re-watch and it’s still as good as I remember. It’s a cops and robbers movie with guns and violence…you know the drill. Though an action police movie it does have a little comedy element thrown in for good measure.

Vampires Suck (DVD – 12) – what’s it about? Spoof vampire movie taking the mick out of the Twilight saga.

Ok so if you watched the Twilight movies and thought omg throw those lame ass vampires under a bus, then you may find this one amusing. It basically takes the piss out of those movies as well as vampires in general. You’ll probably not get it though if you haven’t endured the Twilight saga, well some of it you’ll find funny but not as much.

Movies: Triple 9 (15), Meet Joe Black (DVD – 12) & What We Do In The Shadows (DVD – 15)

Triple 9 (15) – what’s it about? A group of corrupt cops try to perform a high profile heist by pulling a 999.

This is your typical robbery film as in it has good guys, bad guys and guys that should be good guys but aren’t. It’s got a good mix of story and action, some gun fights and some interesting shady deals. It’s worth a watch if you like cops and robbers.

Meet Joe Black (DVD – 12) – what’s it about? The time has come for a big shot CEO to kick the bucket, but he manages to bargain with death and get himself a few extra days on earth…as long as he can join him.

I love this movie, over the years I must have seen it a good few times. It’s a lovely story but it’s pretty girly with the love story, though it also has its funny and sad moments too. It’s a classic really in my book but it is pretty long – so be warned.

What We Do In The Shadows (DVD – 15) – what’s it about? A mocumentary that follows a group of vampire housemates.

Ok um what to say about this film, it is most definitely one of those completely odd ball gems. I started watching it and was like ummm ok this is bad  but then it was awesome. I was laughing throughout and am still amused by it now. It has some great lines which have already stuck with me. I had it on loan (as I couldn't buy it where I live) and now I have to find it to buy drastically quick. I want to watch it again already! Damn it!

Movies: Zoolander (12A), Deadpool (15) & Signs (DVD – 12)

Zoolander (12A) – what’s it about? Years have passed and Derek Zoolander returns from his solitary life to find his son and regain his place as a male model.

This is worth seeing just for the first 5 minutes – seriously just go watch that and then leave if you don’t want to see the rest of the film, it’s everyone’s dream come true…well unless you are a crazy Justin Bieber fangirl that is! If you loved the first Zoolander movie then you’ll love this one, it’s got some good laughs in it and some fun moments – with a bit of action thrown in.

Deadpool (15) – what’s it about? The story of Wade becoming Deadpool and seeking revenge against those who made him that way…

I really did like this, definitely a more adult superhero…ok super movie – lots of killing, humour (as expected from Deadpool) and just general greatness. It’s another well done comic-book movie. If you love Deadpool or Marvel stuff or both it’s definitely worth seeing J

Signs (DVD – 12) – what’s it about? This is the story of a family from a small town in America and their battle for survival against an alien invasion.

This is interesting don’t get me wrong, its got a good story and a good take on how the normal person would deal with surviving an alien invasion…but I was a little bored for the most part, it was a little slow until towards the end which got really good and more thrilling.

Movies: Point Break (12A) & Zookeeper (DVD – PG)

Point Break (12A) – what’s it about? Ex-extreme sportsman becomes an FBI agent and tries to take down a gang of crazy extreme thieves.

This is yet another remake movie, I loved the original so I was a little meh about this one thinking it might not live up to it. I have to say though it was alright, imo it wasn’t as good but it was still good in its own right. It’s worth a watch just for the crazy stunts and extreme sports.

Zookeeper (DVD – PG) – what’s it about? A Zookeeper tries to win back his love but in the process discovers the animals at his zoo have been hiding a secret…

This is one of those comedy love stories that makes you laugh and go…what the fuck are you doing with a weebit of pass the sick bucket thrown in. It’s pretty enjoyable and funny, worth a look if you have a silly sense of humour and like animals…even the kids will like this one!

Movies: Goosebumps (PG) & You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (DVD – 15)

Goosebumps (PG) – what’s it about? A teenage lad and his mum move into a new home to find their neighbour is the writer of Goosebumps books, he then accidently releases all the monsters from the stories…

This one’s a PG so it’s not really scary or anything…well it probably is for kids but not so much for adults. It’s good though and has an ok plot; and it does a good job of bringing the characters to life. It’s worth a watch if you’ve read any of the books or have kids that do.

Rating: J J J

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (DVD – 15) – what’s it about? Zohan who is part of the anti-terrorist task force and decides to give it all up, move to America and become a hairdresser…

This is one of those movies that’s not to be taken seriously at all, as a whole it’s just really really silly…but you know there’ll be some muppet that won’t take it with a pinch of salt and get all mardy. Anyway, yeah it’s stupid and amusing but at the same time it does have a bit of a story to go along with the comedy-action.
